________________________________________________________________________

There is a possibility that residents who live in the apartments will be given the opportunity for COVID vaccination in the next several weeks.

Although Menno Place has not received any commitment from Fraser Health to vaccinate Independent Living or Assisted Living residents, we are communicating with you so that you can be prepared.

COVID-19 vaccines are new and there may be questions that you have about how the vaccine was developed and how it is being administered to people. You may wonder about how your own medical condition(s) may interact with the vaccine.

Attached to this memo is a Consent Form for you to prepare. At this time, we expect that residents will be vaccinated with the BioNTech-Pfizer vaccine.

You can read the Frequently Asked Questions about BioNTech Pfizer vaccine on the Family, Friends & Residents website: www.MennoPlaceLife.com/vaccination-apartments

This webpage talks about the special instances where a physician will provide advice about receiving the vaccine, such as; allergies; being allergic to polyethylene glycol, history of anaphylaxis requiring administration of adrenaline, immunocompromised, recently vaccinated, seriously ill or have had COVID-19.

There is also a slideshow of information from Rexall about how vaccines are approved in Canada and how these vaccines were approved.

We’ve also included a double-sided page of information from the BC Center for Disease Control about the COVID-9 mRNA vaccines.

You will receive another memo or announcement when we are given information that Fraser Health is bringing COVID-19 vaccine to the Apartments.

PAVILION – NO VISITORS, INCLUDING REGISTERED VISITORS

*NEW* NO VISITORS IN PAVILION WHILE ON ISOLATION
PAVILION COVID-19 UPDATE – DECEMBER 24, 2020

The Medical Health Officer has extended the ISOLATION ORDER to include No Visitors to Pavilion residents. This includes Registered Visitors and families.

A COVID-19 exposure took place on December 13th in the Pavilion, Independent Living. All residents in Pavilion are on an ISOLATION ORDER (Quarantine) by orders of the Medical Health Officer. There will be NO VISITORS permitted in Pavilion until the ISOLATION ORDER is lifted.

The ISOLATION ORDER requires all Pavilion residents to remain in their apartment suites for 14 days as there have been 3 cases of COVID in the building, 2 currently active cases, 1 deceased. IF there are NO FURTHER POSITIVE CASES, the ISOLATION ORDER could be lifted as early as December 27th (14 days from Dec. 13th).

FAQ:

  1. How do I get my Christmas presents to or from my loved one?
Family can drop off from 9am – 11:30am, everyday, we are receiving gifts and essential groceries at the Pavilion. Residents can’t send out any gifts until after isolation. All deliveries are quarantined for 48 hours.
  2. How does the resident do their laundry?
Residents will need to wait to do laundry until the isolation period is lifted.
  3. How do they get their essential groceries?
9am – 11:30am, your groceries can be dropped off – essential only – and will be delivered to the resident’s apartment later that afternoon.
  4. What if my loved one has a medical appointment?
They can attend, wearing a mask IF by missing this appointment, it could threaten their life – ie: chemo, dialysis
If you are unsure, call the location of your appointment and let them know the resident is currently quarantined  by the Medical Health Officer because they are in proximity to a COVID-positive individual.

We are waiting for the results of the COVID swabs done on the 23rd. If they are all negative, it may be that the Medical Health Officer lifts the isolation order.

Today, an entire family was visiting with their grandmother in the lobby of Pavilion, opening Christmas presents. This is not following the Medical Health Orders. The residents may not leave their apartment suites. This is a serious situation where transmission of COVID could take the lives of the ones you love. By following these directives, lives can be saved, including the life of your loved one.

Thank you for your cooperation and adherence to these orders.
