Today, a team of 8 immunizers arrived from Fraser Health and were able to vaccinate 141 residents in Menno Hospital with the first dose of Pfizer-BioNTecH. This morning on our call with the Fraser Health team, Dr. Ken Dueck, Medical Director for Menno Place expressed his great joy that this is happening here at Menno Place. There were 6 residents who were not vaccinated. There are 4 empty beds at this time.
Many of you have asked on the Menno Place Families and Friends Facebook Group if this will change visits. This is certainly a necessary step in the right direction for getting back to the normal way that you were welcomed to visit your loved one. We are excited to anticipate that we are on our way to this happening.
Saturday, January 2, 2020, we will have the Fraser Health team vaccinate residents at Menno Home. There will not be any vaccinating done on E2 Home as it is on outbreak.
All 98 residents of Terrace East Assisted Living will receive their vaccinations on Sunday, January 3, 2020.

VACCINATIONS FOR APARTMENT RESIDENTS (ASSISTED LIVING & INDEPENDENT LIVING)
A memo will go out tomorrow outlining how residents should be prepared for giving consent if the vaccinations become available in Assisted Living and Independent Living.

Tomorrow will be another point prevalence COVID SWAB testing for the residents who are negative.
Menno Home and Hospital residents will be receiving the Pfizer-BioNTech Vaccine on Tuesday, December 29, 2020. Medical Decision Makers have been given a link to provide consent for their loved one. We will be calling all primary contacts to ensure that they are comfortable with their decision.
All staff who wish to be vaccinated will be able to drop-in on Tuesday, Dec. 29th – details will be communicated when we know them. It will likely be in the Hospital Chapel after resident’s vaccinations.

ALL RESIDENTS IN PAVILION ON ISOLATION AS PER MEDICAL HEALTH OFFICER ORDERS
PRIMROSE GARDENS – COVID-free. 3 residents on isolation. 8 removed from isolation. The isolation date is calculated from the time of exposure (Dec. 5th), although we were not notified by Fraser Health Home Health that there was an exposure to COVID positive. As soon as we became aware, we put residents on isolation.
TERRACE WEST – COVID-free. No residents on isolation. Dining room will be closed as all apartment buildings are cohorted. This means that no residents or staff are travelling between buildings in order to prevent COVID transmission. Terrace West residents cannot cross into Terrace East for meals or to the hair salon.
TERRACE EAST – COVID-free.
NEW COVID POSITIVE CASES = 1
TOTAL COVID POSITIVE CASES = 2 (1 resident / 1 staff)
PASSED AWAY = 1 (1 resident / 0 staff)
