  • You are free to move about the building.
  • You can go out for walks, to run errands and to visit friends and family.
  • The laundry room is open to ALL residents.
  • You can have visitors, provided that they are double vaccinated.
  • The hairdresser is open.

Please continue to follow all safety precautions:

  • Wear your mask
  • Stay six feet apart
  • Wash your hands often
  • Be careful around groups and try to avoid crowds
  • If you have symptoms of COVID, please go and get a COVID test

Dining

The dining room remains closed temporarily while we work out a safety plan (the same as we have done for Terrace East). Our aim is to get you back into the dining room as soon as we can.

Visiting Terrace East

The doors to Terrace East remain closed for now. One of the best ways to keep everyone safe is to keep the buildings separated. We will let you know when this changes.

Thank you for working together to keep everyone safe. We appreciate you!

Third dose COVID-19 vaccines for independent living at Menno Place

October 6, 2021

Re: Third dose COVID-19 vaccine clinics in long-term care and assisted living

Dear family members and caregivers,
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry has recently announced that third doses of COVID19 vaccines will be offered to residents and tenants of long-term care and assisted living facilities in British Columbia. She also announced it will be offered to independent living residents who live on a campus of care.

Fraser Health will begin working with care facilities this week, and expect the clinics to run throughout the month of October. The clinic for booster shots at Pavilion, Terrace West and Primrose Gardens are scheduled for Monday, November 8th beginning at 10am. We will begin in Primrose Gardens.

If your family member received two doses, the care facility will be seeking consent from the
tenant or substitute decision-maker for administration of the third dose.

We will be offering the Moderna vaccine for third doses. If your family member received the
Pfizer vaccine for their first or second dose, it is safe and effective for them to receive
Moderna for their third dose. You can find information about the Moderna vaccine on the
BCCDC website.

If your family member has not had the opportunity to start the COVID-19 vaccine series and is interested in doing so, please let their care facility know as soon as possible.

We will not be offering the flu vaccine at the same time. We are expecting to provide flu vaccinations in the 3rd week of November. If your family member has had their flu shot, they can receive a third COVID-19 vaccine and a seasonal flu vaccine at the same time with no ill effects.

For general information about COVID-19 vaccines, please visit the BCCDC website.

Thank you,
Suzanne Fox, Executive Director
Integrated Long-Term Care & Assisted Living Services

COVID UPDATE – October 29, 2021 – Pavilion COVID exposure

The Fraser Health Licensing audit returned with Moderate Risk level for the Pavilion (low, moderate and high categories). This means that we will put into place more signage, active screening at the entrance and continued vigilance with enhanced cleaning.

The two residents on isolation had negative COVID results for their test on Oct. 27th. We await information from Public Health on next steps as these residents continue to self-monitor. The entire building remains on Enhanced Monitoring. All residents who are on isolation report that they are doing well.

Meals continue to be delivered to the resident’s apartment suites. The laundry room is open. Maximum 3 people in the laundry room at a time. Wipe down all machines before using them. Wash your hands thoroughly.

The dining room is closed, lounges are closed and residents are not permitted to visit in each other’s apartment suites. Visitors must all be vaccinated fully.

Please communicate with your loved ones that they need to exercise caution in their activities: reducing the frequency of outings; reducing the number of people that they contact; wearing their mask over nose and mouth; staying 6 feet away from others; using hand sanitizer frequently and washing hands often.

Please report any symptomatic residents to Reception: 604.851.4004

Please note a new date for the 3rd COVID PPT(point prevalence test) PCR test (swab or gargle): Monday, November 1st – time to be confirmed

What is a PCR test?
