For 70 years Menno Place has provided hope, dignity, and compassion to more than 25,000 seniors in Abbotsford. Secure in that legacy of care now it’s time to build for the generations to come.
Please join us as we celebrate 70 years of trusted care with a tea reception on Thursday, November 23, 2023. Come and go from 1pm – 3pm in the Menno Hospital Chapel (32945 Marshall Road, complimentary parking).
At Menno Place it’s not just about a bed, food, and medical care. It’s about the incredible staff, volunteers, and donors who make it possible for our 700 residents to live their best lives.
Come join us as we celebrate this milestone and look forward to another 70 years of compassionate Christian care for the seniors in our community.
Reserve your free ticket at Eventbrite:
Menno Place will practice our earthquake preparedness safety drill – the Great British Columbia ShakeOut – on Thursday, October 19th at 10:19am! DROP, COVER AND HOLD ON. All staff and residents at Menno Place will be participating with practice drills.
Drop, Cover, and Hold On when the earth shakes.
Taking the proper actions, such as “Drop, Cover, and Hold On”, can save lives and reduce the risk of injury. Everyone, everywhere, should learn and practice what to do during an earthquake, whether at home, work, school or traveling.
At 10:19am you will hear an announcement: “Earthquake drill STOP, DROP, COVER, HOLD ON”
Some education tips:
We are thrilled to announce that in-person chapel is returning to the Menno Place campus starting Sunday September 17th 2-3pm! This service will take place once a month in the Menno Hospital chapel.
Everyone is welcome:
1. Residents who are able to come on their own may do so.
2. Residents who need assistance must have a family member or friend bring them or designate someone to do so. We are not able to provide staff to porter residents at this time.
Gathering in person for worship is a significant part of one’s faith experience. We want to provide this opportunity. Thank you for participating with your loved one to make it possible.
Volunteers Needed! Not every resident who needs assistance has family members or friends who are available to help. If you or someone you know would like to facilitate an in-person worship experience for those who need it please contact one of the Menno Place chaplains – Andy (Andy.Capesinio@mennoplace.ca), Ann (Ann.Thakker@mennoplace.ca) or Kerry (Kerry.Dyck@mennoplace.ca) . Thank you!
On March 16, 2022, 2:30pm-3:30pm, Family and Friends (Family Council) will be meeting in person. The option of attending via Microsoft TEAMS will be offered as well. The meeting will take place in the Menno Hospital Conference Room (near the Fireside Café – behind the Receptionist’s desk).
Family and Friends is a regularly scheduled meeting for family members, friends or representatives of residents in Menno Home and Menno Hospital. Our guest speakers will be Coordinator of Accreditation, Projects and Education Loveleen Sekhon and Recreation Support/Special Projects Bryan Gay. Loveleen and Bryan will be discussing their roles and how they support our staff, residents and families at Menno Home and Menno Hospital.
Family Council is a great way to connect and learn about the opportunities that are on the Menno Place campus, as well as getting to know other family members that are on a similar journey with their loved ones in long term care. We hope you will be able to join us.
