HOW TO HAVE A SAFE OUTDOOR VISIT – THE APARTMENTS

How to have a safe outdoor visit

For the families and residents of Independent Living Apartments (Pavilion, Terrace West and Primrose Gardens) and Assisted Living Apartments (Terrace East)
As we head into the nicer weather months, you will likely be visiting outside with your loved one, your family and friends.
At the Apartments, there are lovely outdoor areas to visit, including patios with tables & chairs outside of each apartment, benches and the Living Waters Garden with the large gazebo.
  1. Follow Public Health Restrictions – Visitors and residents are required to follow the orders of the Public Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry when having an outdoor gathering. At the time of this writing, the provincial restrictions require British Columbians to have no more than 10 people gathering outdoors. Stick to the same people – don’t gather with several groups of new people. Continue to use COVID-19 layers of protection and maintain physical distancing.

  2. No Entrance to Buildings– the only visitors who can enter the Menno Place apartment buildings are Registered Visitors (Independent Living) and Social Visitors/Essential Visitors (Assisted Living). If you need to use the washroom while on an outside visit, there are 2 porta-potties available for use. One is at the Living Waters Gazebo (between Terrace East and Primrose Gardens) and the other is at the courtyard gate (near Pavilion).

  3. Avoid crowding and other visitors. Find a place where your gathering can take place without getting too close to another set of visitors. Keep six feet away from people who aren’t in your bubble/household.

  4. Have fun! Enjoy your time together. You may want to take a stroll together around the gardens. The flowers are truly magnificent at this time of year! We have a 9-hole putting green and a bocce/lawn bowling green that are also a lot of fun. There are benches located at both of these activities for spectators to enjoy. A great way to keep the young and the young-at-heart happy! Bring your own equipment.
Have a great visit!
We are so thankful for the donations from residents and their families that made our beautiful grounds possible! We are grateful for these generous gifts.

COVID VACCINE UPDATE – TERRACE WEST TO RECEIVE 2ND DOSE MAY 7

COVID VACCINE TOMORROW – TERRACE WEST – MAY 6, 2021

Dear Residents of Terrace West,
Fraser Health will be on campus FRIDAY MAY 7th to provide the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to all residents who have consented to receive it. If you refused the first dose of the vaccine there’s nothing you need to do this time around.
All vaccinations will take place in the bistro. Staff will let you know when it is time for you to come down for your vaccine. Please do not come down early. Staff have the consent forms and will bring them to the dining room for you to sign.
What do I need to bring?
  • Photo ID and Health Care Card (PHN)
  • Wear a short sleeved top, or something that can be rolled up.
Remember to:
  • Wear your mask, over your nose and under your chin.
  • Clean your hands before and after using the elevator.
  • Keep your social distance on your way to the dining room, when sitting at the tables and when you make you way to your suite.
We are very blessed to be receiving the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine ahead of schedule. Residents of the Pavilion and Primrose Gardens will receive their dose at a later date.
With Excitement, Cheryl Dawes
What about the Terrace East residents who need a second dose? They will also be vaccinated.

Why are the Terrace West residents receiving this 2nd dose early? This is because they are prioritized due to their proximity to Assisted Living and their dining together. It is important that they are all protected equally in those 2 buildings when there is cross-movement.

What about the other Independent Living Apartments residents? They will be receiving their vaccination around the 4 month timeline (early July).
Why don’t you give us more notice about getting vaccinated? We learn about the vaccination date the day prior. We are telling you as we find out.

If you have NOT been vaccinated and are coming to Menno Place as a social visitor, please ask for a rapid test (self-test or have a Visitation Host do the test) so you KNOW you are safe when you enter the Menno Place buildings.
