HAPPY EASTER TO YOU ALL! WE HOPE YOU ARE HAVING A WONDERFUL LONG WEEKEND – AND THAT YOU HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO VISIT YOUR LOVED ONE AT MENNO PLACE.

Being able to give mom a hug.

Being able to hug my Dad!!! I have been the designated visitor when that has been possible. I would always be happy and cheerful when sitting six feet across from Dad. But sometimes it would depress me afterwards because of how restricted it was and the fact that I could not bring him even a small treat or take care of some little thing that he would need to ask someone else to help him with. It made me so happy to be able to bring him his favorite snack, as well as do some practical things for him while I was there.

Being able to visit my Dad in his apartment rather than just going for a distanced walk outside. Enabled me to have a better idea of how he is coping, and provide better support.

Being with my grandma in person!!!!! Zoom and windows don’t cut it. Overjoyed to see her and hug her. Precious time left

Everything was a highlight. Just being able to comfortably visit with mom. She requires extra help in day to day housekeeping and personal care because of her Rheumatoid Arthritis so it is life changing for her once again

Hugging Mom for the first time in a year. Seeing her living space for the first time.

It was good to see him again, that he is content and at peace. He has found a friend with same interests and they are already exchanging books. He was pleased that this new friend wants to choose him as his table mate for meals. He has no complaints and continues to share that he feels good about being at Menno.

It was so great to be able to take my Dad over to see my Mum in person, and for me to also be able to see her and hug and hold hands. Because my Mum’s memory is failing, she thought we had been visiting regularly the whole time, which is great for her, so she wasn’t quite as excited as we were. I like that we can stay as long as we like once we’re there so the visit was relaxed. The visitation host was wonderful and the staff were very welcoming! It was good to see them all again and gave me an opportunity to say thank you in person for taking care of my Mum over the past year while we couldn’t be there in person for her.

It was very emotional. I was thankful my mother is looked after so well.

Just being able to visit with mom IN HER SUITE and hug her, help. her with flowers and that kind of thing. Relaxed. Unhurried.

My mom didn’t know we were planning a visit. When she saw me and her granddaughter, there were tears in her eyes. She was in disbelief! We exchanged hugs. It felt so good for us, and I’m sure it felt so good to her! Thank you for making this possible

My mother looked well cared for and healthy. She didn’t know who we were (as is to be expected), but she was happy and the room was very clean.

Seeing how happy she still is and how well she looked.

WERE THERE ANY CHALLENGES?
There were some challenges getting out of the building (code), wearing masks, parking availability, disappointment with not being able to leave the unit, connecting to wi-fi, not being able to take more than one child into the visit and the mental confusion that the resident was experiencing.
