Menno Home Safe Social Visits
Online bookings for Safe Social Visits at Menno Home are now open.
Who can visit?
There will be ONE designated visitor per resident. To book a Safe Visit at Menno Home, you must be the designated visitor for your loved one.
- Resident’s Choice — If the resident is able to choose a designated visitor, their choice will be honoured.
- OR Substitute Decision Maker or POA — The designated visitor will be verified through the resident’s medical record to ensure that you are either the Substitute Decision Maker or Power of Attorney. Priority will go to the Substitute Decision Maker if one is listed in the resident’s medical record.
- OR Alternate Visitor Chosen by Substitute Decision Maker or POA — If you are the verified designated visitor AND you are not able to visit due to personal circumstances (schedule or geography), you will be given the opportunity to designate another individual.
How many visitors?
One. Once a designated visitor is in place, they will remain in place as the ONE designated visitor while we are under the current orders from the Public Health Officer. There are no circumstances that permit us to alter this requirement for social visits.
What times are available to visit?
Safe Visits will be available 7 days a week between 11:15am and 7:00pm (except STAT holidays). Available time slots for your loved one’s unit will be visible in the booking calendar.
How many times can I visit my loved one?
In this phase of Safe Visits, please book only twice per month. If there are cancellations, we will call those on our cancellation list to fill those bookings that day.
Visit Locations:
We have 3 visitor centres that will be the locations for all visits. You will receive parking and arrival instructions via email after you have made your Safe Visit booking.
Infection Prevention Protocols:
You will be required to comply with all infection prevention protocols. At the outset of your appointment, you will be asked several screening questions about COVID-19 symptoms and travel. If you answer “Yes” to any of these screening questions, your appointment will be cancelled to ensure the ongoing safety of our residents and staff.
You will be required to sanitize your hands and put on a mask. Please bring your own mask with you.
Your Visit:
Your Visitation Host will bring you to the safe visit location to see your loved one and will remain with you during your visit. The Visitor Centre has been thoroughly cleaned to keep both yourself and your loved one safe. This is a no-touch visit. Physical distance of 6 feet will be required at all times, and you will not be able to hug, kiss, or touch your loved one. Please do not bring any items with you as you will not be able to give these to your loved one.
If you would like a smile mask that allows your loved one to see your entire face, you can purchase one at the time of your visit for $5 from the Visitation Host (limited inventory). This will be billed to your loved one’s trust account.
