February is Recreation Therapy Month

February is Recreation Therapy Month, and this month, we proudly celebrate the incredible impact our Recreation Team has on the health, well-being, and quality of life of the residents we serve.

Our recreation team does far more than plan activities, they create connection, purpose, joy, and meaning every day. From the smiles sparked during pet therapy visits, to the warmth and intergenerational joy of the Mother Goose program, and the energy on the units during sing-alongs, their work supports emotional wellness, cognitive health, and social connection.

We see their creativity and dedication in special moments too — Santa visiting units, thoughtfully planned bus trips, seasonal celebrations, one-to-one engagement, and programs that meet residents where they are, both physically and emotionally. These experiences may seem simple, but their impact is profound.

Recreation Appreciation Wall

To mark this month, we are creating a Recreation Appreciation Wall located in Menno Home in the same hallway as the Learning Center, right across from Kahan’s office.

We invite all staff to take a moment to:

  • Share a thank-you message
  • Recognize a favourite activity or special moment
  • Acknowledge the creativity, compassion, and heart of our recreation team

Your words matter, and your appreciation makes a difference.

Let’s come together this February to celebrate a team that brings life, laughter, and meaningful moments into our community every day.

Thank you, Recreation Team — we appreciate everything you do!
