Honouring Staff for 20+ Years of Service
This year we introduced a new tradition at Menno Place – a special dinner to honour staff who were marking milestone anniversaries of 20 years or more. This event was paired with the Friends of Menno Place dinner creating an evening that celebrated both the generous support of our donors and the heartfelt dedication of our longest serving staff.
In her opening remarks, Sharon Simpson, Director of Community Enrichment called out the impact that these staff have had on the Abbotsford community.
Staff who have served here for 20 years have served a generation. We have served over 27, 500 seniors at Menno Place. You who have worked here for so long have seen them come and you have seen them go and you have served them well. We are very, very grateful for your service.
The event honoured 20 staff members, across seven teams, who have served a combined 475 years at Menno Place. Each staff person was individually recognized by their supervisor. It was such a delight to hear the supervisors call out specific acts of resident-centred care, expertise, advocacy and leadership. Staff received a gift of a Pandora bracelet with a charm for every five years after year 15. Staff reaching milestones of 5, 10 and 15 years of service will be celebrated at an event in December where we will also present the Outstanding Achievement Awards. (Nominations for these awards are open and we welcome nominations from residents, families and the community.)
Congratulations to all of our Service Award recipients! Thank you for the years of care you have given with compassion and through the lens of keeping residents and families at the centre of your care.
