Memorial Benches at Menno Place: A meaningful way to honour a loved one

Have you noticed the benches placed around our campus during a visit to Menno Place?

Perhaps you’ve taken a seat on one while you’re here—to relax, to visit, to take in the beauty of one of our outdoor spaces.

Certainly, if you’ve been to Menno Place on a sunny day, you’ll have seen a resident or two enjoying a rest in the fresh air on one…

These special benches are part of the Menno Place “Celebrate Life” Bench Donation Program launched in 2015, and they’ve each been generously donated.

They are a thoughtful, unique, and lasting way to honour a loved one, and to bless the Menno Place community for years to come. They provide peaceful spots for rest, reflection, and connection—places to enjoy the outdoors, share memories, or simply pause.

There are 31 of these memorial benches at Menno Place today.

Some have been donated in loving memory of a parent, spouse or friend. Others have been gifted so that a loved one living at Menno Place can enjoy a special place to sit and take in the view. Each bench is adorned with a bronze dedication plaque customized by the generous donor.
