This week in the independent & assisted living apartment buildings, our Building Systems & Emergency Response Coordinator, David Janzen will be holding 3 Fire Safety Education meetings and full bell fire drills in each building; Primrose Gardens June 22nd, Terrace East/West June 23rd, Pavilion June 24th.

At the lunch education meeting (11:45am) David will be going through and expanding on the memo we will be handing out to each resident suite, on what the most important steps are to remember in case of a fire. We try to keep this simple and straight forward for our residents! See the emergency information on this page.

On the same day as the lunch education event, there will be a full bells fire drill in the afternoons. This is to now test the knowledge we just shared the same day. David and Menno Staff will be present during this drill to help any residents who are unclear on what to do. In independent living and assisted living, it is important for each residents to be able to understand what to do in a fire or other emergency situation. Please go over the following details with them if you think they may need more help with retaining this information.

Do you know what to do in an emergency?

If you hear the fire alarm go off:

If the fire is not in your suite, stay in your suite

Emergency responders will come and assist you if you need to evacuate

Do not attempt to go down the stairs by yourself

If there is a fire in your suite:

Get out of the suite and close the door.

Pull the closest red fire pull station

Call 9-1-1

Notify your neighbors
